Progression and early works

January 4, 2010

Below are three technical drawings of a tiger, Northern Pike and Bass.  The exact origin of how these schematics came about is not known, but it is possible Monte did these drawings for some sort of class assignment or instructional project.  It is interesting to see how technical some artists are when it comes to the factual make up of the subjects in their pieces.

One other indicator these diagrams are very old is Monte’s signature.  Later in life, Monte’s regular handwriting was distinct in its nature and his later signature became drastically different than what is seen in these three pieces.
