Deer pencil drawing….

January 7, 2010

Another frequently used attribute in Monte’s artwork was his practice of capturing the animal as if the animal had just been surprised by Monte.

Monte always enjoyed observing  animals in their natural habitat.  Through his sixty-nine years of life, he never tired of seeing wild deer or other animals in their natural habitat. This is even after growing up and living within the Illinois River Bottoms and making many trips within this hemisphere, which included canoe trips in Canada and to the Arctic Circle.    He never grew weary of spotting deer along some gravel road or thought it to be a mundane or boring sight.
