Monte and skiffs

February 7, 2010

Below are an assortment of illustrations of skiffs.  Monte’s love of skiffs reveal several things.  For one thing, they depict men going somewhere. Another thing they depict is man in nature.  To Monte, a skiff meant more than a Jon boat or other mass-produced watercraft; they came from men.  And another thing depicted in the first illustration is of the fragility of the skiff.

One other aspect Monte enjoyed about the skiff is they were things made by hand.  It took craft to build one and care  to maintain one.
